Ferdinand Hodler. The Rudolf Schindler Collection
25 June to 4 October 2015

Following the exceptional bequest of the Rudolf Schindler
Collection in 2014, more than 600 works on paper by Ferdinand
Hodler have found a new home at the Musée Jenisch Vevey,
which is now one of the leading institutions engaged in conserving
and studying the artist’s graphic works.
This major collection will be shown to the public during the
summer through a hitherto unseen selection of pieces covering
the Swiss master’s entire career. With everything from rapid
sketches to figure studies drawn in the studio and pages from
notebooks documenting the progression from the birth of an idea
through to the completed composition study, they shed light
on Hodler’s creative process and reveal the key role that drawing
plays in his oeuvre. Drawn in pencil or pen and heightened with
watercolour or oil paint or fashioned as collage, they reveal the
genesis of the works.
