A multi-disciplinary artist, Françoise Pétrovitch (*1964) has made a name for herself on the international scene with her impressive colour wash drawings featuring striking figures. Among the many media she uses, the graphic arts occupy pride of place. The exhibition highlights both her engraved and drawn work and features two unique video installations.
Françoise Pétrovitch’s art reveals an ambiguous world that is sometimes disturbing sometimes humorous. Such themes as intimacy, adolescence, disappearance and nature all bear witness to the ephemeral. Absence not only describes the passage of time and implies a relationship with others, but also defines the finished work, a witness to the disappearance of the author, the model, the landscape or the moment that has passed.
