Many of us know the public face of Pierre Keller – artist, former director of ECAL, recent president of the Office des Vins vaudois – but few are familiar with his past, as a secondary-school teacher at the Collège d’Aigle and later the Gymnase du Bugnon in Lausanne, publisher and – above all – collector. This exhibition turns the spotlight for the first time on the private man, in a presentation of works assembled over the last fifty years. It reveals an individual of eclectic interests, from music (the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Dolce Vita rock club), architecture (Marcello Morandini, Mario Botta, Alberto Sartoris and Bernard Tschumi) and design (the Campana and Bouroullec brothers and Pierre Charpin), through to wine and winemaking. This is a story of experience shared and passed on, of enduring works created and lasting friendships forged, from Jean Tinguely to Keith Haring via John M Armleder.
