Since 2008, the print collection of the City of Vevey has been attached to the Cabinet cantonal des estampes. Eclectic in nature, it does not aim to trace the history of printmaking and has developed organically, mainly through donations. A group of around 9,000 prints documents the history of the institution’s exhibitions in Vevey and the connections maintained by its various directors and curators with collectors and artists, both Swiss and international.

Primarily made up of contemporary printed works, the City of Vevey’s print holdings are developed in parallel with the museum’s drawing collection at the Musée Jenisch Vevey. Four notable collections can be highlighted: a significant body of work by the artist Pierre Alechinsky (*1927), the nearly complete engraved works of the French burin artist Cécile Reims (1927–2020), the complete editions of the Lausanne-based collective CIRCUIT, and a collection of over 3,000 Japanese and Chinese prints bequeathed by Rudolf Schindler (1914–2015). Within the framework of the acquisitions committee, the collection is enriched in particular by contemporary works that explore the boundaries between printmaking and drawing techniques. This is complemented by numerous additional donations and bequests.
